Learn how Asegun is disrupting the world of battery technology to enable the clean energy future we need. But, he's not here to talk about his thermal battery technology; he already has a proven pilot.
He's here to raise the issue of implementing utility-scale battery infrastructure needed to transition to a renewable energy future. With ambitious climate goals set for 2050, he argues there is not a feasible plan to get there. This is a government-scale problem requiring collective vision, action, and fiscal commitment across the global commu...

“Literally” no, it can’t. Your methods may slow the rate of increase, but will do NOTHING to cool the planet.

Reading the book now… amazing read. I read Nietzsche 20 years ago as an undergrad and it syncs well with the book since the author is revisiting where he was about 20 years ago in Switzerland

The eternal recurrence is not a “thought experiment “. It is a very real and permanent part of life.

I'm a fan of Professor Kaag's. Twice I have read his book, "American Philosophy." I've yet to read his book on Nietzsche. Here, at the end, it sounds like Professor Kaag is saying something similar that he wrote in, "American Philosophy." Somewhere early-on, Professor Kaag writes in AP that William James thought of Consciousness as a, "stream." There is no fixed Consciousness. Thus, there is no fixed, "Who." Our Human Consciousness is in a flux. Of course, stream of consciousness makes one think of the syntax of James Joyce. Also, if there is no permanent "Who," this makes one think of Buddhism. I didn't know that Professor Kaag had such issues with depression and anxiety and an eating disorder. In my life, I've had a lot of depression and suicidal ideation. In Ernest Becker's great book, "Denial of Death," Professor Becker wrote that Human Psychology is a continuum between Schizophrenia and Depression. If you are a Dreamer who daydreams inside your inner-dialogue, then you tend towards Schizophrenia. If you are a Thinker who is always contemplating your existence, then you tend towards Depression. This continuum can be seen in AP in John Boyle O'Reilly's poem on page 60. Anyway, I want to say this about Nietzsche. Nietzsche was a German Romantic not an Existentialist like Soren Kierkegaard and like we who studied Philosophy were taught in college. Nietzsche was a German Romantic not an Existentialist, even though Nietzsche's Master Morality and Slave Morality Dialectic is definitely Existentialism. Besides that, Nietzsche was all Germany. Germany was the greatest and everyone else's country was a piece-of-shit. I have an uncle who was in Europe during World War II. This uncle told me that, whenever he and his cohorts would stumble-upon a dead Nazi soldier, invariably there would be some Nietzschean note on the dead Nazi. In fact, all Romanticism is a harbinger for Fascism, regardless of one's country/culture. Thanks Professor Kaag for your books. I will read your Nietzsche book eventually. I really appreciate your writing.
